Dust off your lightsaber and saddle up your Tauntaun, it’s May the Fourth, which means it’s Star Wars Day and it’s time to let the Force flow through you as we celebrate one of the greatest science fiction franchises of all time. Every year on May 4, Star Wars fans come together on this pun-inspired holiday to celebrate the franchise that began in 1977, and has grown to become a global cultural phenomenon. Of course, May the Fourth also provides innovative brands with a chance to spread their creative X-wings with Star Wars themed content that is sure to delight both Sith and Jedi alike. One of our first pieces of creative content from Star Wars Day 2017 comes from Canada’s own Tim Hortons, who are reminding Canadians about the power of the dark side (of the company’s tasty Dark Roast coffee). Cadillac Fairview’s exciting new Quad Windsor community also wanted to get in on the fun, showcasing some of their new residents… Our friends at BMW Canada wanted to remind everyone what true power looks like: Even the Government of Canada showed a bit of humour issuing a fake recall for some Imperial Walkers. What does it say about Canadian winters that these machines could survive on the ice planet of Hoth, but likely couldn’t make the trek across Northern Manitoba in January? Google Canada celebrated May the Fourth by releasing a bevy of statistics related to what Canadians are searching for when it comes to Star Wars. According to a post by our friends over at MobileSyrup, the most searched Jedi is Yoda and the most searched villain is Darth Vader, while the good people of Thunder Bay, Ontario performed more Star Wars related searches than any other city in Canada. There’s no doubt more great Star Wars content set to be released today. Until then, may the Force be with you.
