Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game launch is my PR dream

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game launch is my PR dream 1024 768 Jonathan Forani

Spider-Man 2 game“Office geek” is a badge I wear with pride.

When I started at North Strategic, I forced colleagues into conversations about video games—or anything fantasy and sci-fi, really—and my managers caught on quickly. They had me work on the Ubisoft account right away, one of the biggest video game developers in the world.

Fast forward to 2023 and I’m helping launch Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PS5 (out today) for our client PlayStation Canada, a career milestone and a dream come true.

As a lifelong Spider-Man fan, this feels like a full-circle moment. I’m that annoying friend who will dissect every Easter egg as we leave the theatre. I own Spider-Man collectibles and comic books. I even have the Wall-Crawler himself tattooed on my left arm. For those who know me personally, it’s no surprise that working on this launch with the PlayStation and Insomniac Games teams is my PR fantasy fulfilled.

When the review embargo lifted earlier this week it was invigorating to see the overwhelmingly positive reception for this game after months of planning and working on the launch.

Earlier this fall, I had the opportunity to fly to Los Angeles with the PlayStation team and Canadian media and creators (pictured with me above) for an exclusive game-preview event. I staffed interviews with various members of the development team and met people I’ve long dreamed of collaborating with—the designers and crafters of those imaginary worlds I love to explore.

At North Strategic, it’s a joy to work on projects centred around our passions. For some of my colleagues, it’s fashion, beauty, or tech, or wellness. The breadth of client work at North Strategic means there’s never a dull moment, or a passion missing. It’s also a thrill to learn new things, and work on projects that resonate with my colleagues the way the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launch resonated with me.

Congratulations to the teams at PlayStation and Insomniac Games for their work on Marvel’s #SpiderMan2PS5, which goes to show that it’s by working together that we can #BeGreaterTogether.
